The Metcops cast
Dispirited individuals, enthusiastic Authorised Officers, an amazing hairdo, a homunculus, a were-robot, an alien… all in one underground train network. All in one comic book series.
Top up your myki and come for a ride.
Shane Digby
Height: 201cm
Age: 33
A tall and scruffy Metcop, the Shane we meet in issue one is a defeated man. He’s not so much a victim of tragedy, unless you count having made no real life choices since finishing school ten years ago a tragedy. No, it’s more that Shane has awoken to the fact that he’s done nothing and is going nowhere. Shane has seen the void – a life with no meaning – and since then hasn’t really been able to find a point to anything. It goes without saying that Shane hates his job.
And then along comes Billy Nemo and, on the same day, all this strange and horrifying stuff about RedEyes and the Demontrain. It’s a lifeline – something is actually happening! Shane latches onto this strangeness with all the enthusiasm of a drowning man, which may prove to be problematic.
Alan Cooper
Height: 182 cm
Age: 54
Alan is a ‘security professional’ come Metcop - I’m sorry - Authorised Officer. You could not find a person who loves their job with more passion. Alan’s secret desire is to ascend to the level of PSO, something he tries to disguise by constantly harping on about how useless they are. He cherishes his friendship with Shane far more than Shane would suspect, and gets a little jealous when he feels that Billy and Shane are teaming up on something and excluding him.
Al is big softy whose idea of cool was lifted entirely from the more patriotic of American 80s action movies. He has a shiny badge, a scary wife, and a commitment to his friend that overreaches even his commitment to public safety.
He is also an aspiring social media star. You can find him on facebook if you dare.
Billy Nemo
Height: 163cm
Age: 30
Billy has a secret, and he feels like he’s broken the world. He hasn’t slept properly for over a year, obsessing over how to make things right. According to Billy the only way to put things back together is to kill the Demontrain.
In his desire to feel normal, Billy will latch on to anything that feels mundane and safe – a cup of tea, a dirty old satchel and, as soon as he meets him, Shane Digby. Billy feels immediately anchored by Shane and is torn between the desire to have him by his side in the mission and the need to protect him from the horror of the City Loop.
Scarlet Burnside
Height: 167cm
Age: 60
American by birth, Scarlet is a retired actress and language teacher. She starred in a string of films that are seared into the minds of every teenage boy from the 70s. At the height of her success, Scarlet had an undisclosed experience which drove her to quit acting, become a recluse and move to Melbourne, Australia. Having just seen On the Beach she became convinced that Melbourne was the most remote place she could go and still have access to quality groceries and cigarettes.
Scarlet really just wants to be left alone, but as chances would have it she decided to go out for fish and chips on the worst possible night, and choose to get there by catching the worst possible train.
Jack
Height: 182.88cm
Age: Eternal
An animated Myer store dummy with an uncanny knowledge of rocket propulsion, chemistry, Thelemite occultism, the goddess Babalon and transdimensional travel and radiation, Jack is still a bit of a mystery.
Jack has a penchant for the expensive. In particular top-shelf whiskey, champagne, fancy tea and china, and patent leather shoes.
Ambassador X
Height: Unknown
Age: Unknown

Burdened with the ‘knowledge’ that he alone can save the city, Ambassador X’s sole purpose is now to open a rift between our world, and Elsewhere; that which lies across the void.
Equipped with ability to control minds, X is a power to be reckoned with.
